All Jonathan wants is a few weeks of solitude, backpacking in Colorado, to help him deal with the aftermath of his service in Afghanistan. He doesn’t want to get involved with a primitive cult on the brink of civil war. But he’s got no choice when an early blizzard traps him in River’s world. He has to learn the rules, and obey them, or risk execution. When Jonathan learns River plans to keep him with her forever, he starts planning his escape.
